Exit signs are a visual guide that lead occupants towards the nearest exit of a building or facility by providing an illuminated version of the word 'EXIT'. Buildings that do not feature a backup generator that keeps the lighting system (including exit signs) functional during a power outage are required to have exit signs with battery backup systems. They are completely universal, there is absolutely no power source needed to operate a self-luminous exit sign. This type of sign utilizes tritium, a glowing form of hydrogen gas, which glows green and can be seen from up to 125 feet away in total darkness. We encapsulate the tritium gas into tubes, which are arranged to spell EXIT, and then enclose the sign with an ABS thermoplastic case that has an 1/8" thick polycarbonate shield.
The sign can be used indoors or out, regardless of weather and environment. Self-luminous exit signs are favored for their versatility and longevity.
