LUCE-9, LUCE-9S, LUCE-9AT
The LUCE-9 consists of a high-temperature, maintenance free nickelcadmium battery, charger and electronic circuitry contained in one 21.5” x 1.18” x 1.18” galvanized steel case. An LED indicator light monitors the charger and battery. A single-pole test switch and installation hardware are included. The LUCE-9 emergency ballast, delays AC ballast operation for approximately 3 seconds to prevent false tripping of AC ballast end-of-lamp-life shutdown circuits. The LUCE-9 emergency ballast is capable of operating one fluorescent lamp from 650 - 1325 lumens initial emergency light output in the emergency mode for a minimum of 90 minutes. The LUCE-9 is suitable for indoor and damp locations and for sealed & gasketed fixtures, including fixtures rated for wet locations. The LUCE-9 consumes 3W of input power and an 18.5W hour battery capacity. Exceeds emergency standards set forth by the current NEC and is UL Listed and CSA Certified for installation inside or on top of the fixture.
The LUCE-9 features a solid-state charging indicator light to monitor the charger and battery, a single-pole test switch, and installation hardware. Listed for installation inside, on top of, or remote from the fixture.
BATTERY: The LUCE-9 emergency ballast uses a high-temperature nickel cadmium battery. This battery requires no maintenance, and has a life expectancy of 7 to 10 years.
CIRCUIT: The LUCE-9 can be used with one 14-54W (2’ - 4’) standard or high-output T5HO; 17-55W (2 ’- 5’) standard or high-output T8; or 36-55W (4-pin) long CF lamp. It is also compatible with most one, two, three and four-lamp electronic, standard, energy saving and dimming AC ballasts. The LUCE-9 is suitable for indoor and damp locations and for sealed & gasketed fixtures, including fixtures rated for wet locations. It is not suitable for air handling heated air outlets or hazardous locations.

When AC power fails, the LUCE-9 immediately switches to the emergency mode, operating one lamp at high lumen output for a minimum of 90 minutes. When AC power is restored, the emergency ballast automatically returns to the charging mode and, using a patented circuit, delays AC ballast operation for approximately 3 seconds to prevent false tripping of AC ballast end-of-lamp-life shutdown circuits. Depending on the wattage and type of lamp selected, the LUCE-9 produces 650 to 1325 lumens initial emergency light output. During emergency operation, one lamp is illuminated, even if installed with a multi-lamp AC ballast.
UL and code compliance
The LUCE-9 has been tested by Underwriters Laboratories in accordance with the standards set forth in UL 924, "Emergency Lighting and Power Equipment,” and by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) in accordance with the standards set forth in C22.2 No. 141, "Unit Equipment for Emergency Lighting.” The LUCE-9 is UL Listed and CSA Certified for factory or field installation. Emergency illumination time exceeds the National Electrical Code (NEC), Life Safety Code (NFPALSC), National Building Code of Canada (NBC), National Fire Code of Canada (NFC) and UL 90-minute requirements.
The LUCE-9 Series comes with a 3-year factory warranty. Deliberate damage, misuse, improper installation and/or application effectively cancel the warranty.
